Mrs India South Africa 2018 Gives Back with The Smile Foundation SA
South Africa: We had the privilege of joining Mrs India South Africa 2018, Dr. Saumya Tiwari Gautam, The Smile Foundation SA and Margaret Hirsch in giving back! On Friday, 29 March The Smile Foundation SA teamed up with Margaret Hirsch and Dr. Saumya Gautam to give back to the children at Tygerberg Hospital situated in Cape Town. The team held a toy drive and collected many toys and stuffed animals around South Africa and Hirsch stores!
Above all, the amazing team were joined by the nursing staff and exceptional doctors. Doctors who have made a difference in these young children’s lives. Due to the children being in an hospital environment, the team thought that this would be a great way to bring the children together.
The Doctors and Staff
The Doctors that were present were known for their amazing contribution within the ward. Dr Alex Zühlke, World Renowned Plastic Surgeon and Head of Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Tygerberg Hospital was present and thanked the team for their exceptional contribution.
There were many amazing doctors present that work within the Plastic Surgery Department such as Dr Andre Bruce-Chwatt, Consultant at Tygerberg Hospital Department of Plastic Surgery and Reconstructive Surgery.
Dr. Siddarth R. Gautam, Plastic Surgery Registrar, Dr. Mosadi Mahoko, Plastic Surgery Registrar and Dr. Amando Nkoane, Plastic Surgery Registrar.
As the Smile Foundation believes that every child deserves a smile, hence the smiles were surely given and embraced by the team! It was beautiful to see such an amazing and inspirational young woman such as Dr. Saumya Gautam giving back.
Mrs India South 2018 showed such compassion and love! It is refreshing to see a Pageant winner partaking in so many community projects. Dr. Saumya Gautam is the epitome of grace, style, intelligence and compassion for sure!
She has become the brand ambassador for the Smile Foundation SA and we can surely see why! Due to the many smiles she brought and probably more to come!
The Smile Foundation SA
The Smile Foundation is a charitable NGO that assists many children with face abnormalities. This NGO works towards helping children receive corrective Plastic and Reconstructive surgery within South Africa. Hence, every child deserving a smile!
Moira Gerszt, Operations Executive Director of Smile Foundation joined us. Moira shared her passion for children and helping others. It was certainly a life-changing experience to see the children’s faces light up when gifted their toys! The smile foundation certainly brought smiles!
Wendy Canterbury, Cape Town Coordinator ensured that all the parents and children were sort after and brought such vibrant energy for everyone, especially the children!
Margaret Hirsch
Margaret Hirsch is such an empowering woman. This phenomenal women is a leading businesswoman in South Africa. Hence, coming from a humble background, Margaret certainly made a name for herself. She co-found and runs a multi million rand Appliance and Electronic Retail Organization, Hirsch’s home stores.
Hirsch has therefore been recognized building such a successful business and giving back to the community. She has won a multitude of awards for her exceptional work and determination in entrepreneurship and community service!
Furthermore, Mrs India South Africa 2018, Dr. Saumya Gautam shared how these phenomenal people changed her life. Saumya shared what a role model Margaret Hirsch and Dr Alex Zühlke have been regarding her career and work towards empowering others!
This was such an outstanding project. We felt extremely privileged to have been a part of it. It is certainly heartwarming to see so many phenomenal people of great character come together to make such a difference.
Dr. Saumya Tiwari Gautam is surely a role model to many young women out there. Her hard work will never go unnoticed and we are so proud of everything she and her team have accomplished thus far.
In addition to this, we would like to extend a thank you to The Smile Foundation SA, Margaret Hirsch and her team, as well as the Doctors and Nursing staff within the Plastic Surgery Department within Tygerberg Hospital for their hospitality and warm nature. It was such a beautiful project and the response was outstanding regarding the amount of toys collected for the beautiful children!
