‘Kuch Rang Pyar Ke Aise Bhi’ on Sony has completed one year. How does it feel?

It’s been a very exciting and satisfying feeling. I am happy audience lapped up something like Kuch Rang which has been an experiment with conviction instead of following the path. I thank Sony and Danish for the trust on us.

The show has created a benchmark for romance. Comment.

Kuch Rang has been a benchmark for us in many ways. We have pan section audience for the show. It’s been distributed across 5 different networks in 5 different languages while the original is on air. That’s speaks volumes about the impact Kuch Rang has created. Shaheer and Erica have excelled as Dev and Sonakshi. I think this has been their best as in today. As actors both have grown tremendously with this show. Their understanding of character or premise has been outstanding. That’s why their chemistry is looking like magic.

Had you imagined it would connect so much with audiences?

It will be wrong to say that we didn’t imagine how it will connect with audience. However what we didn’t know how large audience and for how long. Like every new show we put our best door forward and gamble a bit with characters, plots and storytelling. I am glad it is getting the appreciation.

What is the best thing about the show?

Simplicity clubbed with beauty is the hall mark of the show. I have been told many times that Beyond Dreams is known for simple yet strong story telling. Almost all our shows like Veera, Sadda Haq, Rang Badalti Odhni, Jana Na Dil Se Door all have been simple in their creation, content and treatment. My wife and Mamta deserve the credit for this experiments and backing it with sustained commitment and conviction.

The show has got one year extension. Comment.

I am thankful to Sony for the extension. This has been a great journey together. Despite all the rumors created by some of the websites and fansites we are going strong. It looks like there is a competition in writing obituaries. Race to post the article has defeated honesty to authenticity.
