India’s Best Dramebaaz, Yeh Hai Aashiqui, and now Nach Baliye. How has your journey been as an anchor?
It’s been fabulous journey full of surprises and learnings which have helped me evolve as a performer. I am much more confident being in front of the audiences – no inhibitions and no restrictions.

Coming from a non-industry background how tough was it to get your foot in the door?
It was very tough but every one has their own sets of ups and downs, what they call the struggle in here. I have had my share as well. I wouldn’t say it was easy but yes it was eventful for sure and difficult as well.

Of the characters you have played, which is the closest to your heart and why?
I still feel Jeh Khurana from Pyaar Kii Yeh Ek Kahanii is closest to my heart as it was my first step to success. To add to it, the untapped emotion of rage is something which I enjoyed playing a lot. I think the character will forever remain close to me.

Cricket, acting, anchoring, dancing. How do you do it all?
Well acting is something I live by. I practically have an undying hunger to act and play more and more characters in this one life. Everything else is just an add on. I try to fill the shoes of a dancer or an anchor but somewhere deep inside I feel like acting is what truly drives me.

Whom do you consider to be your driving force in life?
I just said it. It’s the hunger to learn more the passion of being an actor the fact that I can live a million lives in one. It’s the thought is just fascinating and I think that hunger is what drives me!

What is the deciding factor when choosing a script or show?
It’s something that I call a click, or a bell. In simple words the connect as soon as I read a script and get to know things revolving around it is my deciding factor. I automatically have this voice inside me which tell me is its a yes or a no! I completely go with my gut feeling.

What would be your dream role?
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button my all one time favorite.

If you were given a chance to act in any Bollywood remake, which film and character would you choose?
I would love to play the Shahrukh’s role in Baazigar or Darr !! That’s what comes to my head as a first thought!

Audiences are keen on seeing you return to daily soaps. Can audiences expect something in the near future?
Well I am looking into various things. In fact I was very close to signing a daily recently but I think much better and bigger things are there in store for me which the audience is also looking forward to! But any given day if I get a strong script I will definitely do a daily.

What is the wackiest thing a fan has done for you?
Well I don’t remember many such instances but yes I remember one fan had written my name over her hands and shoulders with red pen saying that’s how much she loved me. She was a kid though.

According to you, how has social media helped or harmed the entertainment business?
I’d say it has definitely helped because it’s much easier now a days to stay in touch with fans, get to know what they are thinking of and have a personal connect with them . However, the sad part is that now everything is accessible within a click of a button. The privacy factor is a thing of the past. It’s good to have easy access to information that is out there but it can also be harmful.
