Exclusive Interview With Romy!

Romy is back with his brand new single titled “Dil Lehgai” which simply means “She’s taken my Heart”. Following on from his debut single, which starred Bollywood superstar Shilpa Shetty in the video, Romy is now giving us a vibrant new track which is produced by the maestro of hits Rishi Rich.

Legendary Rishi Rich, who has previously worked with the likes of Britney Spears, Madonna and responsible for breaking Jay Sean into the Asian market says:

Romy is such a great person to work with and the energy he has in the studio is just infectious. I’m sure he will bring smiles to people everywhere”.

Urban Asian had the pleasure to talk with Romy himself and got to know a little more about him. Read what he had to say below.

UA: How and when did you first discover that singing was your passion?

Romy: I have always been a big music listener, growing up listening to Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali khan and Micheal Jackson music constantly played by my family, the passion grew from being a listener to learning music to wanting to be an artist.

UA: Was singing always your calling, or did you have another career path in mind? If so, what career?

Romy: Singing, acting and dancing was all I had in mind, I never really studied to be honest even though Mum wanted me to be a Doctor. I felt I had to give my undivided attention to Music. But I would always advise to finish your studies.

UA: What did your parents and family say when you told them you wanted to sing?

Romy: My family from day one have been very supportive even though nobody in the whole family have ever taken up music as a profession. Im grateful to family.

UA: What was your reaction when you found out that Rishi Rich wanted to sign you as an artist to his camp?

Romy: Dream come true still pinch myself recording in Rishi Richs studio with the legend himself. Best vibe always will be a fan of RR.

UA: After working with Shilpa Shetty on your hit single Bollywood Star, do you plan on having other Bollywood actors or actresses in your videos?

Romy: We have a few projects in the pipeline, infact I just got a phonecall a few hours ago on a deal with a bollywood project, got many more callabos and features to surprise… ssssssshhhhhhhhh

UA:  Rishi Rich has developed and helped some very talented artists, are you working on something or plan on working with any of these artists? If so, can you tell us who?

Romy: I have my next single which we have just recorded and will be shooting the video for in a few weeks… its a big collaboration with the Punjabi Rockstar “Juggy D”. It’s a complete different vibe for both of us… bit Naughty lol

UA:  What are your plans for the future?

Romy: Where ever my supporters take me, I will be travelling on tour to Dubai and Mumbai this year and have a few movie scores I will be writing for.

UA: How do you set yourself a part or make yourself unique in a competitive industry to be a rising star?

Romy: I’m a writer, singer, composer, performer and I write modern poetry from the heart, I can sing in Urdu, Hindi, Punjabi, and English and love juggling with all these languages in one track. The most important and unique aspect I feel is that I write about my past and write with a real life vision….(Lol have I confused you there?)….. I know its deep.I don’t want to be pouring my heart out lol.
