Shabana Azmi is one of the most celebrated actors’ of her time. It is a dream come true for many actors to be able to share screen space with her. Almost two decades after wielding a gun on the big screen in and as Godmother, veteran actress, Shabana is set to reprise the role on the small screen in Ek Maa Jo Ban Gayi Lakho Ke Liye Amma on Zee TV. She will take over from the Naqaab actress Urvashi Sharma to play the title role; the latter quit the show because she didn’t look old enough for the part post the leap.
The young enterprising producers, Farhan P. Zamma and Asif Shaikh made it possible to rope in Shabana to play title role in Amma. Says producer Farhan P. Zamma,
“We wanted someone to exude that aura and grace, which will prompt the audience to accept the new Amma as a don immediately. Shabanaji is the female Amitabh Bachchan for us. It couldn’t have gotten any better than this for the show.”
Ashmit Patel and Yuvika Chaudhary will also be seen in the show. The buzz surrounding the show has been positive so far.
