Reena Rai Crowned 'Miss South Asia 2014'

Spirit of India celebrated the 20th anniversary of their annual Miss South Asia 2014 beauty pageant this past weekend. Over 30 contestants participated in the show to be crowned Miss South Asia 2014 with Mr./Miss/Mrs. India North America. Participants from all over the U.S. along with their support entourage filled the ICC Ballroom in Milpitas, CA this past Saturday, March 8th, 2014.

In attendance of the event was the host Indrani Pal-Chaudhuri, Miss USA 2010 Rima Fakih, prestigious fashion designer GK Reid, and legendary Bollywood director Mr. Rahul Rawail — responsible for producing/directing movies such as Love Story, Beetab, Bekhudi, Aur Pyar Ho Gaya, and more. The star studded event also featured past winners who presented lifetime awards and crowned their 2014 successors.

The night’s elegance and beauty was captured by all the contestants who were judged based on triple persona criteria. The event started with traditional Indian wear, an evening gown wear, and an optional talent portion.

The winner of this year’s Miss South Asia 2014 beauty pageant was Urban Asian model Reena Rai. Her first ever beauty competition, Miss Rai captured the judges’ vote by her elegance in attire and Arabic themed dance performance.
