The soundtrack for Remo D’Souza’s out-and-out dance-based film ABCD 2 is officially out! Composed by Sachin-Jigar, the same duo that created magic in the first edition of ABCD, the songs in this album have a wide range of genres from soft melodies to intense hip-hop.
The first track, “Chunar”, has a beautiful lilting melody and sounds like a soulful lullaby. Arijit Singh is an interesting choice for this song but as per his track record in Bollywood of late, he executes it wonderfully. The cellos in this song add a rich base that really complement Arijit’s voice.
“Sun Saathiya” is an extremely addictive melodic track rendered by Priya Saraiya and Divya Kumar. The video for this song is equally addictive because of Remo’s brilliant and challenging choreography performed excellently by Shraddha Kapoor, Varun Dhawan, and the other stars of the film.

“Bezubaan Phir Se” is a reprise or revival of “Bezubaan” from the first ABCD film. Sung by Vishal Dadlani, Anushka Manchanda, and Madhav Krishna, this is an intense track that is made for dance (specifically for hip-hop) with its combination of slow moments and electronic elements. What particularly stands out is the rawness of Vishal Dadlani’s voice.

Mixing hip-hop and Punjabi lyrics is the rap-heavy track “Happy B-day”. After Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania, once again we see Varun Dhawan’s rapping skills in this fist-pumping number. Rendered by Mika Singh, another hip-hop song with an interesting beat is “Happy Hour”, which showcases Prabhu Deva’s fluid dance movements in the video.
In stark contrast to the hip-hop is “Hey Ganaraya”, sung by Divya Kumar. This song represents the expected appearance of an ode to Lord Ganesha (similar to “Shambho Sutaya” from ABCD) in a Remo D’Souza film. As a dancer, I personally love the jathi sections, and the ending chords and harmonies are uplifting. This song has a similar vibe to Ajay-Atul’s “Deva Sri Ganesha” from the film Agneepath. It is obvious that Divya Kumar is a trained classical singer, and his talent, combined with the lyrics by Mayur Pant, lend power and strength to this devotional track.
Another supremely addictive song in this album is “Naach Meri Jaan”, sung by Benny Dayal, Shalmali Kholgade, Siddharth Basur, and. Rimi Nique. This is a typical party number that has quite a bit of Latin influence, with trumpets and Spanish lyrics interspersed throughout. Needless to say, Benny Dayal was the perfect choice for this song!
ABCD 2‘s soundtrack concludes with “Vande Mataram”, a heartwarming ode to India. Despite the nice reprise of “Chunar” by Daler Mehndi, this track is a bit long to listen to on its own without a video to accompany it. Nevertheless, we hope and expect appropriate visuals and choreography to accompany and enhance this patriotic track on screen.
