This afternoon at 12:00 PM Yash Raj Films made their BIG announcement as to who the lead actor in Aditya Chopra’s Befikre will be. The announcement was exciting the YRF team and it was definitely exciting for all the fans too!
Thus far I have enjoyed the way Adi or the YRF marketing team has approached their way of announcing the film and the lead-actor who is Ranveer Singh! Ranveer created a touching raw-video from his phone on the grounds of Yash Raj Studios and shared a little story with us. He told us how 5 years ago on the third floor he was offered Band Baja Baraat and 5 years later same floor and same office and same director has now offered him Befikre. Amazing how the universe works, right?
Unfortunately we have some who disagree with this decision. A large amount of tweets and hate comments towards Adi’s decision were sent out and some fans were not to happy. Here’s an example of a few of the many tweets that went out:
Here are my thoughts…
While it would be wonderful to see Shahrukh Khan and maybe Rani Mukerji or Kajol on-screen in a Yash Raj film, it’s not going to happen. For as long as I have been watching YRF movies, they have always brought a fresh idea and young faces on-screen. How awkward and creepy is it to see Shahrukh, soon to be 50 next month, to be romancing a 20 year old or even play the role of a 25 year old? It doesn’t work anymore!
My other thought… years ago when Shahrukh was in DDLJ and Dil Toh Pagal Hai I am more than positive magazine readers felt a senior star to SRK needed to play his role as Raj or Rahul. Every few years the turn-over on actors and actresses will occur and we will see more and more new faces!
It should be exciting to see Ranveer Singh, the crazy guy off-screen, play the next Raj or Rahul! I personally and a lot of other fans on twitter this morning have been very happy about this announcement and looking forward to what more YRF has in-store for us for the upcoming film Befikre – Those Who Dare to Love!
