Richa Chadda appeals to PETA regarding horse rides!

Actress Richa Chadda, who debuted with Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye! (2008) and is a Filmfare Award winner (Best Actress in 2012 crime films Gangs of Wasseypur – Part 1 and Part 2), has teamed up with PETA to help raise awareness regarding the issue of horse riding that happens in various spots in Mumbai.  Richa, a hardcore animal lover herself, has written a letter to the high court (see below for the full letter) to bring the issue to light.

Richa is upset as although the high court had placed a ban on horse riding activities, the courts have been pretty lax in imposing penalties to those who cross the law.  Richa’s letter urges the courts to take action and is an attempt to bring to light the trouble the poor horses go through!

Richa tells us,

“The government has given them a year to stop the use of such carriages. But my problem is not just that; I see riders forcing horses to run in the middle of the road in versova. Once I saw this guy controlling two horses and it was very scary. He has been offering rides to kids and I shudder to think what will happen if the horse goes out of control. So I wanted to resister a complain against them.”

We hope that Richa is successful in getting the courts to stop “horsin'” around and addressing the issue!
