Music Review: All is Well

The soundtrack for Umesh Shukla’s latest Hindi film “All Is Well” was released recently. The music has been composed by Amaal Mallik, Himesh Reshammiya, Mithoon, and Meet Bros Anjjan, and lyrics are by Shabbir Ahmed, Mayur Puri, and Kumaar.

The first song in the album, “Chaar Shanivaar”, is a typical party number sung by Vishal Dadlani Badshah, and Armaan Malik. Because of its fast beats and due to the fact that both were sung by Vishal Dadlani, this song is quite similar to “One, Two, Three Four” from Chennai Express and will get people dancing on their feet.

In stark contrast, “Baaton Ko Teri” is a melodious number sung by none other than Arijit Singh, the king of soulful renditions. Though the melody is not particularly striking or unique, it is always a pleasure to hear Arijit Singh’s voice.

After chartbusters like “Baby Doll”, “Lovely”, and “Chittiyaan Kalaiyaan”, Kanika Kapoor is back with “Nachan Farrate”, which features Sonakshi Sinha in the video. The most addictive part of this track is the main chorus, which will make anyone want to thumka to this beat.

“Mere Humsafar”, sung by Mithoon and Tulsi Kumar, is another soulful track that falls in the same mellow category as the songs from Aashiqui 2 and Roy. Despite the use of similar instruments and orchestration (acoustic guitar and piano), this melody is not nearly as captivating as the haunting tune of “Tum Hi Ho” and becomes a bit boring within the first two minutes.

Compared to “Mere Humsafar”, the song “Tu Milade” is a refreshing change and has Himesh Reshammiya written all over it. Sung by Ankit Tiwari, it has some basic underlying rock elements and a ridiculously catchy chorus that sustain listeners’ interest.

Rendered by SreeramaChandra, “YOLO” is a typical Punjabi pop number that is easy to groove to at any party. The lyrics are pretty much like any mainstream American pop song, except they are in Punjabi.

Check out Umesh Shukla’s “All is Well”, starring Abhishek Bachchan, Asin, Rishi Kapoor, and Supriya Pathak in theaters on August 21st, 2015!
