Some sad news – but also a good turn out thus far for a great cause! The earthquake of 7.8 magnitude hit in Nepal on April 25, 2015, taking the lives of about 7000 people who has left an everlasting mark on millions around the globe. The tragedy left thousands of citizens from Nepal and tourists stranded, famished and injured surrounded by massive destruction. In this bid, various organizations have also stepped forward to help and support Nepal and the Indian film industry is not far behind. Actors across Mumbai have been raising funds for the cause to help build Nepal back together and not only build but also have fans donate goods for the people of Nepal.
One film actor has been working around the clock by promoting Ketto and also having people support the cause and tragic in Nepal that he has raised nearly more than 5 lacs! Actor Kunal Kapoor has successfully managed to raise money for the survivors of the tragedy through his crowd funding platform, Ketto. The actor’s initiative has garnered around 4. 50 lacs and is inching towards its goal of 5 lacs soon. Celebrities like Shraddha Kapoor, Varun Dhawan, Nargis Fakhri, Dia Mirza, Vir Das and more have also collaborated with the platform to gather funds for Nepal and the cumulative figure has reached as high as 60 lacs! Also, numerous celebrities have also shown support to Kunal’s initiative via the #SaveNepal hashtag.
It is important that everyone comes together to show solidarity to the people of Nepal in this difficult time. Rescue operations have since been going on with people from across the global pitching in to help with supplies and necessary amenities. These endeavors will only help make the lives of thousand better.
