Keep a tissue box nearby you ladies, because apparently, it’s true – Shahid Kapoor, our lovable chocolate boy hero from Bollywood, is engaged! (I can hear the collective “Nahiiin!” from around the world right now!) According to Stardust Magazine, which broke the story first, Shahid Kapoor will be marrying a girl from Delhi named Mira Rajput! While many couples in Bollywood have found their loves in the film industry itself, Shahid Kapoor was keen on finding someone from a non-filmy background. In the past, he had dated actress Kareena Kapoor (with whom he had a heart-wrenching break-up), and then was linked to actresses like Priyanka Chopra, Vidya Balan, Sonakshi Sinha, Amrita Rao, and oh so many others! Yet, he never admitted nor denied the link-ups, and has always been rather private about his personal life! Last year, was a great year for him professionally, but it seems this year is his year for success in his personal life too! What’s the scoop? Read on below!
As per Stardust’s sources, apparently Shahid Kapoor is already engaged (see why I said you need a tissue box?)! Remember how back in January everyone was discussing his supposed engagement too? Well, seems like those weren’t rumors and he has indeed exchanged rings with a girl named Mira Rajput who is based in Delhi. The girl is 23 years old and is a graduate from Lady Shri Ram (LSR) college in Delhi. That means, she is 11 years younger than Shahid! Nothing to fear there though because other couples with such a large age gap have also worked. For example, Dharmendra-Hema Malini who have a 13 year age gap, Dilip Kumar-Saira Banu with a 22 year age gap, and Boney Kapoor-Sridevi with a 8 year age gap, to name just a few, have all worked out despite the age differences. Plus, her being from a non-filmy background seems to suit Shahid just fine, and the fact that she is from a non-filmy family is not surprising at all. Shahid has always maintained he wanted to marry outside of the industry.
The source revealed that the two connected through a religious institution. Both Shahid and Mira are members of the Radha Soami Satsang Beas (RSSB) spiritual society. The key tenants of the society are having to be vegetarian, quitting alcohol, and leading a morally clean life. Shahid’s devout vegetarian lifestyle was earlier rumored to be part of the reason he and Kareena had broken up. However, since Mira is already a member of the society, perhaps it will help keep them together. Sources confirm that it is through a common Guruji that they met, and that the Guruji himself helped the families agree to the union.
Post-engagement, Shahid visited Mira’s hometown and when Mira’s elder sister had a baby, he flew down specially to meet the baby! Sweet, huh? Plus, we hear the two had some secret dates in Delhi! Even though Mira’s not from a film-background, doesn’t their love story seem fit for a movie? If this is true, then it seems Shahid is truly smitten for Mira. What a lucky girl!
If rumors are to be believed, she will be shifting to Mumbai quite soon to join her handsome beau! In fact, Shahid has even purchased a new property in a high-class part of Mumbai, and she’s keen on helping fancy it up!
Looks like all we have to do now is wait for the official announcement to find out just how Fida Shahid is over his lady love, Mira, and have to patiently wait for when the Vivah is!
