Mallika Sherawat gets booked for insulting national flag?

Looks like Mallika is back in the news again and this time for being in trouble with people who aren’t quite happy about her upcoming film! According to reports, actress Mallika Sherawat was booked under Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act, 1971 on Thursday by Hyderabad police for disrespecting the national flag. Two citizens had filed a petition in the court, asking the police to book the actress for insulting the national flag. The actress is seen wearing a tricoloured sari sitting on the roof of a car with a red beacon in the poster of her upcoming film ‘Dirty Politics’.

Filing the case, the petitioner alleged that Mallika’s act amounts to “obscene use of the Indian tricolour”. He even stated that the state emblem of India has been used for cheap publicity of the film while the poster insults India’s honor.

In fact, this was the second case booked against her in the Telangana state since the poster is out. Earlier she was booked under different sections of various acts pertaining to the state emblem and national flag.

The Hyderabad police took the action against Mallika on the direction of a local court. It’s noted that she was issued notices last week, on a public interest litigation, by the Hyderabad High Court too.
