If the past is any indication, we know that the combination of singer, Raghav, and legendary composer AR Rahman results in music magic. Earlier, Raghav had sung “Ishq Shava” from Jab Tak Hain Jaan, and most recently, also worked with him on a track from Rajnikant’s Kochadaiiyaan. The two have combined forces again to create what is tipped to be one of the stand out soundtracks of the year! AR Rahman adds his midas touch on the music for forthcoming Walt Disney Pictures release ‘Million Dollar Arm’. The Oscar and Grammy award winner has once again teamed up with chart topping Canadian singer songwriter Raghav on the electro fused anthem ‘Keep The Hustle’ featuring American rapper Wale.
Speaking on the collaboration, Raghav says:
“It’s been a dream come true working with AR over the last couple of years. Not only have we made some great music, we’ve become great friends in the process.”
Raghav has always excelled on fusion tracks. Capitalizing on his unique voice, Rahman created ‘Keep The Hustle’, which sees Raghav feature on an electronic laced hip hop fusion with a distinctly Eastern feel. The loud, up tempo anthem is taken from the soundtrack for ‘Million Dollar Arm’, composed by AR Rahman. The soundtrack, which also features rapper Iggy Azalea, KT Tunstall and ‘Jai Ho’ singer Sukhwinder Singh, has received huge critical acclaim since the film’s release in America this month, with many likening it to Rahman’s Oscar and Grammy award winning masterpiece ‘Slumdog Millionaire’.
In 2012, Raghav collaborated with AR Rahman on the Bollywood hit ‘Ishq Shava’, which became one of the most popular tracks from Yash Chopra’s ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’ starring Shahrukh Khan. In addition to working with Rahman on Million Dollar Arm, this year Raghav also featured on another AR Rahman soundtrack. He provided the lead male vocals for the Hindi song “Aaya Khwaab Ka Mausam” from the big budget visual spectacle ‘Kochadaiiyaan’, which released in cinemas last week. The theatrical number is a Hindi interpretation of the Tamil soundtrack, showcasing Raghav’s artistic versatility.
Raghav is one artist who seems to be talented in a wide range of music styles. He is hoping to continue working on soundtracks, while still devoting time to releasing his own unique singles. Raghav adds:
“I’m in the studio now doing at least one song maybe more on the upcoming film ‘Lekar Hum Deewana Dil’, another collaboration with AR Rahman. As well as that my next solo single is coming soon, produced by Afrojack so I’m excited for that. It’s cool I’m dipping in and out of so many things at the moment.”
Raghav’s forthcoming single ‘Take Me Away’, a collaboration with international superstar DJ Afrojack is expected to release worldwide this summer.
‘Keep The Hustle’ featuring Wale, taken from the soundtrack ‘Million Dollar Arm’ is out now, with the film expected to release in UK cinemas in August.
