US-based singer, Jeffrey Iqbal, became a household name back in 2008 when he won Saregamapa USA, which gave him a direct entry into India’s Saregamapa show. Although he didn’t win Saregamapa 2008 in India, he won the hearts of listeners around the globe. He also won over AR Rahman back in 2007 during Rahman’s Talent Hunt search. Jeffrey was only one of two contestants who were chosen to perform for AR Rahman’s Third Dimensional tour in NYC.
Since then, there has been no looking back for Jeffrey, who despite all his success stays humble and grounded. Earlier this year Jeffrey performed live with Shreya Ghoshal on her international tour. If you were lucky to see him perform, you know that his fan following is huge, especially in the USA! He is one of few singers who can truly get the crowd involved with his energy and pure talent. Now, hot on the heels of this successful tour, Jeffrey has become the first USA born singer to become a Bollywood playback singer!
Jeffrey’s song “Rubaru” will be featured in the upcoming movie Dehraadun Diary starring Adhyayan Suman (Shekhar Suman’s son), Rohit Bakshi, and Ragini Nandwani (a soap actress).
