'Out of body experience' for Madhuri Dixit-Nene

On the auspicious occasion of Holi, dancing diva Madhuri Dixit-Nene unveiled her stunning new wax figure at Madame Tussauds in front of friends and family in London. The star of hit films including Hum Aapke Hai Kaun, Dil To Pagal Hai and Devdas, joins Aishwarya Rai and Kareena Kapoor to become the next Bollywood celebrity to be honored at the world famous attraction in London.

On meeting her double for the first time, Madhuri Dixit-Nene said:

“It is hard to imagine yourself like this and meeting my wax double today is very surreal, it feels like an out of body experience. I would like to congratulate the team at Madame Tussauds London as they have done a beautiful job!

Costing a whopping £150,000 and taking four months to make, the figure shows Madhuri Dixit-Nene wearing an exquisite sari designed by ace designer Varun Bahl. Madhuri Dixit-Nene was completely involved in the creation process and attended a sitting in Mumbai where sculptors captured a catalogue of reference photographs and hundreds of precise measurements.

Liz Edwards, PR Manager at Madame Tussauds, London, said:

“We’re delighted to welcome Madhuri (and her family) here today and to be including her figure in our A-list line-up. We know Bollywood fans will also be delighted; we have been inundated with requests to make Madhuri’s figure and we hope they agree it is a wonderful likeness. With so many awards to her name and a career spanning over 25 years she undoubtedly deserves her place here at Madame Tussauds London.”
