We all know of the proverb ‘history repeats itself’, but not many are fortunate to witness it with their own eyes. That is exactly what we are going to witness with ‘Bottoms Up’, the longest running musical entertainer in the history of English theatre in India. Directed by Bharat Dabholkar, the play took India by storm in the 80’s and is back with more for the spectators to savor for. But behind the success story of the play are other heartwarming stories too. Not many know that Arshad Warsi and Maria Goretti met each other for the first time during ‘Bottoms Up’, and the rest is a success story of a happy marriage.
Running for 15 years at a stretch, the play has made many performers who they are today and superstars in their own rights. Arshad Warsi, Maria Goretti, Javed Jaffrey, Sunita Rao, Kunal Kapoor and Shahid Kapur, all were a part of this magical journey. Though the essence of the show remains the same there are a few changes in the storyline keeping in mind the time gap. ‘Bottoms Up’ has thus created emotional and funny stories, with its previous run, and without doubt will craft many more.
